The “Love Wins” Scholarship (LWS) was developed in memory of Ana Grace Marquez-Greene. Ana loved learning, thus reading was one of her many strengths. Her determination and love for everyone and everything made it possible for her to excel at everything Ana tried. The LWS was founded by a group of phenomenal women who graduated from Hartford Public High School (friends and one honorary member) who support Ana’s Mom and each other after the Sandy Hook shootings. They meet regularly for dinner (mostly desserts), laughter, and great conversations. The LWS emerged from one of those great conversations. Their motto became “Always leave people better than you found them” and they accomplish that and much more every time they meet. They recognized the support they provide each other is deeply rooted from the Hartford Public High School experience. Hartford Public High School, the place where community and education united them for life, resilience became part of their DNA, and dreams were made possible. The Love Wins Scholarship embodies their belief that Love Wins in the face of adversity. Great things do come out of Hartford, especially Hartford Public High School.
